If you are lucky enough to visit Sanibel Island, don’t miss their Farmer’s Market. It’s held each Sunday near the library. We make it a point to walk through there each time we’re here. I was so glad we chose to do that again this visit. We had just arrived at the property when we spotted some friends from back home. I was a little unsure that it was actually Rick and Cindy but Jana was 100% certain. I hadn’t seen them for several years, besides I’m not the best at remembering faces. Fortunately they recognized us at about the same time and we had a nice conversation. They have a condo on the island and are just getting back to using it after 2+ years of repairs from Hurricane Ian. It was really nice to catch up with them.
The sun was shining and temperature was near 70 degrees so it was time for some sun. Some people don’t understand how we can just sit at the beach for hours. “Don’t you get bored?” I’m never bored sitting on a chair, listening to the waves, and watching a people walk by. Sanibel has a beautiful beach with unimaginable number of shells. For one of the few times in our lives, we refrained from picking up a single shell. We just sat in the chairs and enjoyed that peaceful beach feeling.
We did manage to get out of the chairs long enough to get a close up look at the lighthouse. You can see from the image below how much beach erosion has taken place from all the hurricanes passing through.
The sign must have captured my speed when I was slowing down. The sweatshirt created too much wind resistance.
We did manage to see a couple of dolphins swimming in the gulf but the rest of the day was spent lounging in the condo. I promised not to rub it in that we were in the warmth of southern Florida but ……….

Just another reason to visit Sanibel.
